My name is Rudy Valencia, and I’m a lifelong Northern Colorado resident, passionate about technology and its potential to transform our world. Growing up surrounded by the beauty and innovation of this region has instilled in me a deep appreciation for both the natural world and the limitless possibilities of human ingenuity.
I got my start in technology around 1989-1990, when my father brought home a HeadStart Explorer, an 8086 clone computer with a built-in GUI. Since then, I expanded my knowledge through working on various computers that came my way via trash finds, thrift stores and hand-me-downs. I bought my own computer in 2001, a modest Pentium 4 with Windows XP, and built other computers after that one became outdated.
As my knowledge of technology grew, I explored Linux, Web and graphical design, virtualization, and system administration. I currently have a home lab that has a virtualization server running KVM on Linux, with VMs that provide routing via OpenWrt, centralized login via an Active Directory domain, and hosting for side projects.
Outside of my technology pursuits, I like to hang out with my friends, listen to music, play dice on a custom table I built, and sometimes go for drives around Colorado’s picturesque Rocky Mountains.
My aspiration is to enter into the field of Information Technology and Systems Administration, leveraging the skills I’ve built through my years of exploration and learning.
I’m excited to embark on this new chapter in my career, and I’m eager to contribute my skills and passion to the IT field. I’m confident that my unique blend of technical expertise, local knowledge, and a strong desire to learn will enable me to make a positive impact.
